    Work is Fun!

    Most of us spent at least 45 hours a week at work. Given that this is a significant portion of our week, we should make it fun! How to have fun at work? A check at the website and you will find things like “Fun activities at work” and “17 ways to have fun at work”. When you look further, you get things like “Meeting Bingo” – the drawing up bingo cards with a list of phrases that are commonly used in meetings and “Banana Guide” - the using of a large banana to point at your presentation slides. Games get more and more bizarre when you search more.

    Counting our blessings

    As I follow the recent news, I feel grateful for many things in Singapore, and remind myself not to take things for granted. Being prepared and resilient The magnitude of Japan’s earthquake and the resulting tsunami was beyond expectations. It is sad to hear about the destruction and high death toll. But this would have been worse in countries without earthquake-ready infrastructure and people. What is admirable is how people in Japan are trained to handle earthquakes and their strength and attitude in times of distress. Being resilient is a valuable survival trait, and I hope we gear ourselves to have preparedness and a steadfast attitude when we need to overcome our personal catastrophes.
