Reflections in a New Year

Another new year, what has changed for me? I became busier in my family life as my son starts a new phase in life, I am still trying to balance the work life imbalances as the family adjust to new changes.

I remembered a health scare few years back when I did a health check. It turned out to be just a scare but I was posed a question when I was still awaiting results from further checks then, I was asked : "Would you be doing anything differently?".  It was not a question that I have thought of before but at that point in time, I didn't ponder too long about the question and my reply was quite instantaneous "I don't think so, I am doing what I want to do the best I know how'.  This includes for my family, my extended family, my work and other important pieces in my life.  At the point of this reply, I may not have given much thought to it, but reflecting it thereafter has created some deeper thinking and reflections. One of which is why this reply came out without much thought, am I being truthful to myself. But the value of this conversation is I know it should hold to be what I want to achieve. I want to be able to look back at my life and not hold much regrets on the path I choose, the way I treasure the things and people who are important.

So I am glad I had the health scare and that the question popped out. It helped me to anchor my options and consider what is important to me and make my choices from there.

I believe in the metaphor; "Live the Moment!"

People are always thinking about "What I could do better?" Why must it be better?

I like your question; "Would you be doing anything differently?"  Is different better? We wouldn't know. Could different be worse? We wouldn't know either. One thing is for sure though, it sets the mind in perspective. It gives us the opportunity to say while we pat ourselves on our back

"I am doing what I do best to the best of my knowledge!"

    Keep it up!

    Happy Lunar New Year Everyone!
