    Jurong Shipyard National Day Observance Ceremony

    This morning I was invited to the Jurong Shipyard National Day Observance Ceremony as the Guest of Honour. As I arrived, lines of security officers and workers lined the roads and guided me to the carpark. Everyone saluted me, which I presumed was a legacy practice tracing back to the shipyard’s military roots.

    It takes a warm heart and cool head

    How many people can say their work have a real impact on other people’s livelihood and jobs? I experience that within a week in my new job. I had to attend a Meet-The-People session as part of the job induction, experiencing first-hand interaction with vulnerable Singaporeans who need assistance from social to work to counseling.

    A friend asked this question, “Are you happy?” “He cannot be seriously interested in my happiness. It must be a prelude to who is making more money! ”, I thought. Will five and six “Cs” be the measure of happiness? Or for the less affluent, happiness is a divine endowment? I hadn’t an answer.
