The Importance of Being Courteous
Last weekend, I went mattress-hunting as my son was outgrowing his toddler bed. I popped by the nearest place that sells mattresses. The décor was nice, airy and modern. There was one staff manning the store. I approached her to help me get the mattress.
The conversation went something like this..
Me: “Excuse me, I am interested in getting a single-sized mattress for my six year old son.”
Salesgirl: “What mattress you want? We have many you know.”
Me: What kind do you have? I am not familiar with mattresses.”
Salesgirl: “ We have so many, how to tell you? You must tell me what you want.”
New job. New people. New hopes.
Everyone enters a new job with some anxiousness and some excitement. It was no different for me joining e2i.
One month into the job, and there are lots of things to look forward to everyday:
- Adapting to a new work culture and learning new acronyms
- Getting to know new colleagues better
- Appreciating what the organisation does and learning how to better contribute
Jurong Shipyard National Day Observance Ceremony
This morning I was invited to the Jurong Shipyard National Day Observance Ceremony as the Guest of Honour. As I arrived, lines of security officers and workers lined the roads and guided me to the carpark. Everyone saluted me, which I presumed was a legacy practice tracing back to the shipyard’s military roots.
