My Story

I started my career in the training industry as a training consultant. The exposure and the experience gained in this position allowed me to undertake a business solutions portfolio in Singapore and Australia. I believe strongly in Life-long learning and walk-the-talk by passionately acquiring knowledge and skills with a Masters in Industrial & Organizational Psychology; adding this to my main repertoire including; Customer Service, Security, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, IT, Animation & Multimedia Design, Real Estate , Food & Beverage and Hypnotherapy.  I am currently working towards a Phd in areas relating to Training / Learning Psychology. My philosophy in holistic training incorporates interactive and fun learning and my success is measured by their story. Some of the major documented successes achieved by my learners include;

-   Makino, Singapore (Teamwork Training involving Staff from different tiers and departments), showcased by the Workforce Development Agency in Singapore

-   The Esplanade, Singapore (Training Esplanade Staff in the methods to Conduct and Construct a Competency-Based Training Model for their Organization), as of 2009/2010 they have gained recognition as a Training Organization for Technical Theatre and have built a strong internal community of practice.

-   The Binzagr Group, Saudi Arabia (Training Staff from Supervisory to Management in the methods to Construct and Maintain a positive Workplace Culture through Mindset Change and an understanding of the Psychology of Workplace behavior, as part of Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and IE Singapore’s efforts for the positioning of Singapore as an EduTourism destination.) As of end 2011, senior management have observed a positive change of attitude and am continuing to send other staff for training to Singapore in 2012.

-   Shanghai Expo 2010, China (Training Singapore Volunteers for the Singapore Pavilion Exposition). Trained Singapore Student Volunteers based at the Singapore Pavilion in the art of Visitor Management, Service and Etiquette and  Situational Management Skills. Visitors and feedback from the project has remained positive and the volunteers have been featured in both local as well as international news and media.

-   Nanjing Youth Olympics 2014 (Conducted in Jan 2012), China. (Training China Volunteers for various roles in the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics). As part of the initial training, we exposed the successful candidates in areas of Event Service and Mindset, Customer Service Skills and Event Etiquette. The Youth Olympics committee and the volunteers have given positive feedback on the training. Actual event performance review is pending the event in 2014.

I also conduct knowledge sharing in the field of Knowledge Management and Business Protocol in the Singapore Police Force and Ministry of Home Affairs, including EQ skills with the International Affairs Division (IAD).

I believe that our experiences shape us and I draw my inspiration from my interactions with the people around me. I created the F & B Service Training and Customer Service manual for Coffee Club Singapore and conducted their in house training, after attaining a high personal service standard; recognized and promoted from a Waiter to the Assistant Manager (Outlet) within 6 months.

Creativity workshops form part of my expertise as well. In fact, I was involved in a pilot project on Heritage Game Design for NLB (National Library Board) together with Paradigm Infinitum (PI), and elements of this project later evolved into the Games Design program offered by Singapore Polytechnic.

Since training in Learning Hub for the Employability Camps and Job Seeking workshops and seminars for NTU’s Engineering Faculty, I have been involved actively in helping the participants adopt a hands-on approach to seek, adjust and integrate themselves back into the workforce as well as in specific fields such as Customer Service, Healthcare, Security, Retail and the Marine sector.

I work with various Government and Private agencies in the development and delivery of various programs and am a developer of National Course Curriculum for the WSQ framework (Service), (Retail), (Security),(Precision Engineering – Teamwork) and ESS Soft skills; as well as various customized programs. I am also well versed with all ESS modules from the operations to the managerial level, as well as the Certified Service Professional (CSP) program; having been involved not only in their development but in the establishing of the criteria of some modules in the Curriculum Training and Assessment Guide (CTAG) as well.

Since 2008, I have been conducting ACTA (Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment) classes for fellow trainers as well as for Corporate Clients, where I adopt a versatile training style to assist learners in overcoming Psychosocial barriers towards learning.

To ensure that my Knowledge and Capability match my Passion for Training, I continually involve myself in ground-breaking Research and Projects. In 2010, I was involved in a project as part of a NTU/Learning Hub Initiative for new curriculum delivery methodology, harnessing IT capability, experiential and experimental training styles to synthesize and deliver a new means of effective learning.

Some of my evolved-research has also led to improved tools for the Design of training materials such as the KMM (Kinestethic Mapping Methodology), a sequential model for Instructional Design which considers different development and learning styles.

My current Doctoral research is centered about Learning Behavior and mapping of learning to not only Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic but including the consideration of Olfactory and Gastronomic influences as well.

In 2012, I will be involved in additional Training Interventions in China as well as the Oman and Saudi Government for various clients. My dream is to share and infect them with not only the desire for Knowledge and Skill but also a Passion to ensure Continuance and Improvement.
