Masterclass Series
e2i’s Master Class Series to grow and deepen workers’ skills, and prepare the local workforce to be future ready
The National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) is working with industry partners to develop and push out a series of Master Classes in various sectors, to grow and deepen workers’ skills and prepare the Singapore workforce to be future ready. The Master Class Series will be more than just a platform for exchange of perspectives, and learning from best practices by experts in the different domains. It also hopes to highlight the importance of identifying core competencies and continual skills training required to address the fast-changing needs of the labour market landscape.
The Master Class Series acts as a bridge for workers and industry practitioners to connect with the industry experts, allowing them to learn from best practices both locally and globally, develop and deepen their skills sets to achieve mastery of skills in their career. e2i aims to encourage Singaporeans to pursue a lifelong learning attitude – to upgrade their skills to be more competent in their job and be ready to meet the demands of the future workplace landscape.
The Property Asset Management and Facilities Maintenance Master Class – FutureSkills & Green Jobs, held today at the Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability, is one of such Master Class Series organised in collaboration with the Real Estate & Construction Centre (RECC). The one-day event was graced by NTUC’s Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing, and supported by both local and international build environment professional bodies. Approximately 150 professionals from the industry attended the event. The Master Class seeks to prepare practitioners for the potential growth and changing Facilities Management landscape while equipping both built environment clients and service players with essential knowledge such as the importance of factoring sustainability at every stage in the building life cycle in support of Singapore’s and the Global Sustainability agenda.
Mr Gilbert Tan, Chief Executive Officer of e2i said, “The Master Class Series seeks to grow our core Singapore workforce through deepening of skills to be future ready. We want participants to be inspired to learn from best practices and strengthen their competencies and gain greater knowledge in their respective work domains. At the same time, we encourage employers to recognise the importance and need for continual skills development and training so as to grow and deepen their workers’ competencies.”
e2i plans to roll out 50 Master Classes by the end of the year to create more of such innovative cross-learning opportunities. Working closely together with industry players, e2i hopes to partner more companies to identify industry gaps and develop curriculum to meet the future needs of the different industries.
