First job fair in Tengah brings more than 2,500 jobs and AI-Enabled career support closer to residents
As Tengah continues to develop as Singapore’s newest town, residents will, for the first time, have access to a full-scale job and career fair within the estate. Led by Chua Chu Kang GRC Grassroots Organisations (GROs) and the NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), the Chua Chu Kang GRC & NTUC’s e2i Skills and Career Fair will be held on 15 and 16 May 2026 at Tengah Community Club. As the first job fair in Tengah, it brings job matching, career coaching and skills support directly into the neighbourhood, making employment support accessible for residents. Advisers to Chua Chu Kang GRC GROs Minister for Manpower Dr Tan See Leng, Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance Mr Jeffrey Siow and Dr Choo Pei Ling, will join residents at the event.
AI-Enabled Career Support and Skills Guidance
More than 2,500 Professionals, Managers, Executives, and Technicians (PMET) and non-PMET vacancies will be available at the fair, with 18 participating employers conducting on-site interviews. A dedicated job wall will highlight roles located within Tengah and the wider Chua Chu Kang area, supporting residents who prefer to work closer to home.
At the fair, residents will have access to on-the-spot career coaching, resume support and job matching by e2i career coaches. Digital tools will also be available to support job search and preparation, including the NTUC AI Career Coach (AICC), which provides AI-enabled support for resume building, interview practice and personalised job recommendations. Youths and jobseekers interested in technology roles can also access the e2i–IMDA TECH Portal, which provides access to tech jobs, internships and training opportunities from leading employers.
As AI continues to reshape job roles and skills requirements across industries, the career fair will feature talks and sharing sessions to help residents understand how these shifts may affect their careers and employability, covering topics such as staying employable in a changing workforce, building career identities with the support of digital and AI tools, and developing relevant skills for emerging roles; this aligns with NTUC’s AI Ready SG initiative, which focuses on equipping workers with practical,
future-ready skills and supporting them through career transitions amid ongoing workforce transformation.
To extend support beyond the two‐day fair, e2i will deploy a self‐service job kiosk outside the Tengah Community Club Level 1 Office for a one‐month period following the event. Residents can browse and apply for job opportunities, access skills‐related resources and use e2i’s digital career services closer to home, including selected AI‐enabled tools introduced at the fair. This pilot seeks to improve everyday access to employment support within the community, while enabling partners to better understand residents’ needs and usage patterns before considering longer‐term deployment within Tengah and across Chua Chu Kang GRC.
Building long-term support in the community
Beyond the two-day fair, Chua Chu Kang GRC GROs and e2i will continue working together to strengthen sustained access to employability support in Tengah. This reflects an emerging neighbourhood-based approach, where job matching, career guidance and skills support are progressively brought closer to residents as new towns develop.
Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Adviser to Chua Chu Kang GRC GROs, said, “As AI reshapes industries, some jobs will change and be reshaped. We are committed to supporting every worker by strengthening skills, employability, and transition support so they can navigate this transition with confidence. By working with tripartite partners to bring career guidance, job matching, and upskilling into Chua Chu Kang community, we are helping residents stay prepared and supported through every stage of their working lives.”
Dr Choo Pei Ling, Adviser to Tengah GROs, said, “From the start of Tengah as a town, we have tried to think not only about physical infrastructure, but also about the everyday systems that shape how residents live, work, raise families and build their futures over time. As the town grows, residents are also navigating changing aspirations, evolving careers and new technologies reshaping the workplace. Bringing jobs, skills support and career guidance closer to where people live is therefore not just about convenience. It is about making support feel more accessible, more human, and more naturally integrated into everyday life. What is meaningful about Tengah is that we have an opportunity to think about these things early, while the town is still taking shape. This allows us to build not only homes and amenities, but also stronger support ecosystems around residents from the outset. I hope Tengah can continue to grow as a future-ready and resident-centred town, where infrastructure, technology, community and support systems evolve thoughtfully together alongside residents and their aspirations.”
Ms Caryn Lim, Chief Executive Officer of e2i, said, “e2i’s role is to translate employability priorities into practical support that workers can act on. By bringing career coaching, job matching and skills pathways directly into the community, we help workers move from uncertainty to clarity and from intention to action. Working closely with our tripartite and community partners, e2i remains focused on supporting workers through career transitions and enabling them to access opportunities that are relevant, timely and aligned with their aspirations.”
