NTUC’s e2i opens its first career centre in CBD
NTUC reinforces its commitment to equipping every worker, especially PMETs and youths, with training and career guidance to prepare them for the future of work
Singapore, 2 April 2024 – Earlier today, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC)’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) launched its first Career Centre at One Marina Boulevard (OMB), strategically located in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD). The new centre introduces interactive self-help displays tailored to provide informative and whole-of-integrated NTUC’s e-resources for workers. In addition, NTUC’s e2i also signed two sets of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with business leaders and knowledge partners, aimed to provide greater opportunities for job seekers in bolstering their employability and professional networks.
The NTUC’s e2i Career Centre ribbon cutting ceremony was officiated by Guest-of-Honour (GOH) NTUC Secretary-General (SG) Ng Chee Meng, NTUC Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) Desmond Tan, e2i Chairman Roy Chiang, and NTUC Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) and e2i Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Caryn Lim. The ceremony serves to exemplify the unwavering commitment of NTUC to care for the needs of every worker and underscores e2i’s efforts to empower all Singaporean workers across diverse industries.
SG Ng said, “NTUC’s e2i Career Centre located in the heart of the city, signals our commitment to better support PMET workers and youths. This hub embodies NTUC’s ethos of care for every worker. It will offer diverse career resources dedicated to enriching workers as they prepare for the future economy.”
Enhanced support for Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) and youths with comprehensive resources
The NTUC’s e2i Career Centre at OMB offers a dynamic space for job seekers to network and access essential career services and resources. Regular networking and engagement events as well as personalised coaching workshops will be organised monthly to foster connections among job seekers.
The career centre at OMB will also feature interactive self-help displays that provide job seekers access to a curated whole-of-integrated NTUC’s network of services and e-resources for jobs and skills. This includes e2i’s Career Resource Kit for Professionals and Resume Builder; U PME’s NTUC Executive Mentorship Programme; and Young NTUC’s Career Starter Lab. This will support job seekers in their job placement and career advancement.
The enhanced support aims to create an engaging space where individuals can access tools, job opportunities and learning resources, to enhance their employability skills and stay updated with industry trends.
“This Career Centre in town symbolises our dedication to make career services accessible to Singaporean workers in the communities where they work. We envision a future where each of our 26 touchpoints serves as a beacon for career advancement, and every worker has the opportunity of being empowered to pursue their career goals,” said ASG Caryn Lim, CEO of NTUC’s e2i.
MOU Signing with Business Leaders and Knowledge Partners
In collaboration with business leaders and knowledge partners, NTUC’s e2i has been instrumental in equipping workers with industry-relevant skills and knowledge over the years. To reinforce this support, e2i’s CEO and NTUC ASG Caryn Lim signed two sets of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, witnessed by SG Ng, DSG Tan, and e2i’s Chairman Roy Chiang.
The first MOU with business leaders, namely Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to share industry insights and best practices at speaking engagement sessions, and facilitate job and networking opportunities for Singaporean workers.
The second MOU with knowledge partners, namely Alvigor, Forest Wolf, Human Capital (Singapore) and NTUC LearningHub, serves to enable professional development opportunities, and provide expert guidance and support to job seekers in their career planning, progression, and prospecting (i.e., job search) endeavours.
From 1 April 2024, NTUC’s e2i Career Centre at OMB, along with e2i’s 25 other touchpoints island-wide, will further enable e2i to expand its ground outreach and facilitation efforts by bringing its provision of personalised career coaching, skills upgrading advisory and job placement services closer to communities across Singapore.
